I bet between this and the HDMI port thing is a bandwidth issue with the architecture. So I’m up-the-creek See my post about about the new cameras I’m thinking of getting. That's probably something they'll work on for the M2, and then we'll be unleashed all over again. I have a MBP but I’m using my pcie slot with an eSATA card to power my external LaCie HD. Seems like the M1 is a little I/O constrained.
